TO EMPLOYERS IN THE METAL CARPENTRY INDUSTRY

Minimum wage increase as of May 1, 2025

Madam, Sir,

We would like to remind you that the general minimum wage rate will increase to $16.10 per hour as of May 1, 2025.

The Decree respecting the metalwork industry in the Montreal region, section 5.05., indicates the special provision relating to wages: Despite any other provision of this decree, the employee receives at least the minimum wage provided for in the Regulation respecting labour standards (chapter N-1.1, r. 3).

The decree currently provides for a minimum hourly rate of $15.79 for a laborer. If your company hires laborers and they are paid the minimum wage stipulated by the decree, you will need to adjust their salary to match the minimum wage stipulated by the Act respecting labor standards. It is therefore important to ensure that none of your employees are paid below the minimum wage rate.

If you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours faithfully,

THE JOINT COMMITTEE ON BUILDING MATERIALS.
